Dana, fabulous Dana!

This post is a salute to one of Bahrain's best emerging freelance graphic designers! Dana was kind enough to create inmychoos' new logo header, how fabulous is that? I loveee it! But I wasn't surprised with her work, Dana Abdulghani proved time and time that she really is creative and knows how to reach out to the client.

Feel free to contact Dana @ for any freelance enquiries. Dana does it all, from business cards to personal greeting cards, to logos, to magazine layouts, I assure you that you will be impressed!

Thanks D! ;*

Carine Roitfeld Revealed!

The much anticipated documentary featuring Carine Roitfeld on CNN revealed, enjoy! ;p
Part one:

Part two:

Part three:

Opulence amidst a crisis.

For FW 09/10, designers made quite the era jump from futuristic silhouettes dominating these past seasons to the Baroque era this season! Not only is there juxtaposition from one season to the next (or even the same season! The 80's trend?), but this rich and opulent trend also contradicts the current economic situation which is no where near lavish opulence.

I don't know how much of this trend we will incorporate into our wardrobes, we will just have to wait and see! Never say never?

Super talented and equally stylish Nada Tawfeeqi's "Pretty Little Things" is the latest Bahraini venture in headbands! How adorable? Adorned with pretty side bows in an array of fabulous colors, these headbands will sure jazz up any outfit. Headbands can also be custom made xx Love love love!

Here's a description from Pretty Little Things' facebook group:

‘Pretty little things’ offers a variety of pretty handmade headbands that brings out the uber feminine side of every girl. The headbands are individually handmade and are uniquely pieced together using fine fabrics, trims, and findings.  The bow headbands are inspired by the upper eastside snob show Gossip Girl in which ‘Blaire Waldorf’ was spotted wearing in several episodes of the season. They are all a real head turner!! ♥ You are going to love it! There’s a few pieces  of each, so hurry up and place your orders ladies! Orders or send me a facebook message.

Fabulous readers,

I would like to share with you an opportunity to join a fabulous project, Khaleejesque. I got an email request to join the fabulous clique, and would like to pass it on to those who are interested!

“Khaleejesque”, a reflection of the Gulf transformed into an online magazine is a one click portal that features everything there is to know about the Gulf, what’s bubbling in the waters, what’s getting singed in the sun, where the gang is loitering at today, and what all the girls in the mall are carrying now. Okay, not so much mainstream, but a fairly accurate indication of everything that’s going on.

We will cover the latest restaurants, fashion, boutiques, spas, art galleries, exhibitions and include special features and editorials; basically an inside scoop of everything “Khaleeji.”

But to do all that, we need you- fellow bloggers, freelancer writers/photographers; basically people who like writing, know how to write, and are willing to write short articles, cover events, and contribute to “Khaleejesque.”

If you’re up for it, drop us a line at, with a CV (don’t freak out, we’re not asking you to professional, just tell us if you’ve had any freelance or writing experiences) and preferably a copy/example of anything you’ve written recently, and no supermarket lists don’t cut it;  send us blog posts, a couple of paragraphs, anything that shows that you can put sentences together.

Cigarette skinnies, super light wash, slightly worn out. This post is a dedication to my sis ;p she inspired me to study whether or not this might be an emerging trend (actually I was browsing online for inspiration of the wearablity factor of these jeans.) You see, two summers ago, I let go of blue jeans. A year later, I slowly started to introduce jeans back into my daily intake (in small, dark dosages, that is.) & now, I find myself quite confused - not knowing whether I should get a pair of love worn light jeans a la 80's.

As I was google-readering away, I found two photos of the same girl wearing the same jeans on different blogs, I think she's all the inspiration I need!

How chic?

P.S Baroque, you are WAY to adorable for your latest post featuring inmychoos! I'm beyond flattered! je t'adore! xx

Fashion is art.

The question as to whether or not fashion is considered art has been debated for decades now. I have always believed in fashion as an art; like other arts, fashion is a media that translates an individual's expression to the world.

I will leave debating "fashion is art" in terms of the industry to be argued by experts. But as a fashion-enthusiast, I wince at the mere mention of the "superficiality" of the industry. What makes it superficial? Well, obsessing about it one might say? But would you label someone working in the fashion industry as superficial? Or fashion followers? I am really keen to know.

To me, fashion is a way of express oneself. It is a "non-verbal cue" of telling people who you are, kind of. Most importantly though, it is seriously fun. I really enjoy looking at people who are aesthetically fashionable. They dress for themselves, and dress up not to impress others but because they enjoy doing so. Its saddens me to hear many people who may or may not have their reasons and arguments, simply label fashionable people as "superficial". Fashion is supposed to be fun! Boo the party poopers away lol.

The latest episode of Ugly Betty (which was hilarious) inspired my post. In defending itself, Mode Magazine's representative argued that Mode cannot be exempt from help because it is "merely a fashion magazine", but should be regarded as an important part of New York's economy.
