Is the fashion magazine industry being swallowed by digital media? With plentiful fashion blogs out there, who keep fashion fanatic readers updated on a daily basis (or hourly lol), are magazines losing their touch? By the time a magazine hits the shelves, is the content already old news? Well, not really news in the case of Vogue and co., but readers who buy magazines do so in anticipation of getting a glimpse of whats new for the month and season. However, with the ever so booming world of fashion blogs, will magazines be a thing of the past?
Personally, I noticed that in the last couple of months, I looked less forward to magazines than I used to. Once upon a time, I used to pass by to get magazines every Monday and Thursday, religiously!
The recession is not helping either. How many of you noticed the the December issue of Vogue does not live up to its regular standards? Many magazines were forced to cut down atleast 10% of their pages to keep up with current economic woos. So sad!
to magazines staying around forever!

I think the entire publishing industry is going to be replaced by online content.

What fashion blogs r worth checking out?
I love blogs and websites, but for me, NOTHING beats a good big fat magazine!
They're getting so expensive over here (in Kuwait). The prices are waaay too high and frankly that discouraged me. But I still buy Elle regularly and Vogue when I like the cover.
hey girls! .. lol @ "hourly basis" we should all RSS-subscribe to those hourly updates, no?
@Alya, the same case applies here in the Emirates, it's only the 'localized' versions of mags that saved us from splurging quadruple the original price for the publication. Having said that, if you have a serious affair with fashion, i don't think you'll ever be able to limit yourself to the localized versions of harper's bazaar, elle, or vogue.. they're just never enough, you'll stretch to australian vogue and french harper's bazaar, & italian W, even if you dont speak the language, the photos are charming enough lol
